WISP backhaul in high noise: shielding and discrimination

Why F/B, shielding, and alignment matter more than “more dBi” when spectrum is saturated.

On shared towers, more dBi without discrimination can worsen the problem: you collect more useful and useless noise. Prioritize front-to-back, sidelobes, and shielding (NPX series).

Alignment: a dish parked on a sidelobe may “work” at a low MCS. Use proper alignment techniques and find the true main-lobe peak.

Channel plan + antenna: the antenna does not replace planning. Separate backhaul from access in frequency/space and document neighbors.

Maintenance: radomes, sealing, and jumpers degrade; a hop that “got worse by itself” is often a connector or water, not the radio.

For noisy or critical 6 GHz, combine NPX6 with radios that have solid filtering and continuous CINR/SNR monitoring.
