Case details

PTP 550 and NPX2

As part of trunk updates, the Redcom company run by Eng. Edgar Ramírez, sought to establish better communication on its distant links 52 km away where internet coverage is compromised since not even cell phone signals could reach. They sought to put the combination of the NPX2 antennas and the PTP550E from Cambium Networks.

One of the main reasons that led to using radios like the PTP550e was the robustness and precision that our link needed since we had a backup line for a Mimosa brand link with B5C and a NetPoint NP2 antenna. Another feature was also that using a model like NPX was to avoid interference on a link that was practically fine. One of the most important features was closing the lobes so that one antenna does not hear the other.

Distance between both links

The alignment process with the millimeter adjustment plate was excellent since the beam of this antenna is very narrow, but it allows us to obtain good stability of the link as well as we sought to ensure that the tower had no play to be able to maneuver. One recommendation is to avoid installing directly on the tower. Since vibrations can be generated. In our case we were able to generate a link where we achieved 571 mbps added at zero loss.

We recommend and continue to implement NetPoint in our projects as well as the combination of Cambium Networks due to the stability and profitability that both brands offer as added value in excellent robustness.
