NetPoint NP6 with an operating frequency of 5.9 - 7.2 GHz, working together with the Force 4600C radio from Cambium Networks in Bakchaul at a distance of 43 km, provided an alternative for those WISPs that need greater capacity at medium distances.

When we talk about extended frequency, remember that this radio ranges from 5.9 - 7.2 GHz and the antenna prepared for this is the NetPoint NP6 model.

No noise but manages your spectral space well

Just because you have a new space where you will not have noise does not mean that you are not responsible. "Take care of the spectrum above 6 GHz" do not make the mistakes of yesteryear and also use medium powers, if you can!

How can I link more than 32 km with a Force 4600c radio?

The first thing you should consider is the antenna. You can use an antenna of the following models:

NPXGEN3 (4.9 - 6.4 GHz) with a maximum cap of 6600 MHz but you have to be well aligned.

If you are looking to use the 5.9 - 7.2 GHz range you have to use an NP6 model and validate your configuration.

Regarding the configuration of the radio force 4600c you have to use the TDD mode which can take it to greater distances than the ePTP mode which reaches up to 32 km. Alignment will be your ally and above all, modulate your packages well.

The 43 km link with the NP6 antenna and Force 4600c

To take advantage of the greater capacity in backhaul projects at distances from 0 to 100 km, the NetPoint NP6 antenna and the Cambium Force 4600c radio were used where the capacity of 625 Mbps / 1015 Mbps was transmitted at 43.17 km in a firmware in test mode to jointly release the solution in 6 GHz for medium and long distances.

The stabilized capacity

Once the new firmware tests were carried out, a better, more symmetrical and stable capacity was obtained, such as the one shown of 1053 Mbps / 956 Mbps at frequencies of 6570 and 7020 MHz, where there was no noise present from other links in the C-band microwave band.

A light antenna

The NP6 antenna will be a distinguished member of the new family of 6 GHz antennas, with an even deeper design with excellent wind resistance, as well as 2 pluses to improve the quality of the links 1.- Stabilizing arm so you can choose to secure your link. 2.- Radome or cover to protect the waveguide from atmospheric conditions and ensure better link performance.

Why make a more concave design, our engineering and development team found a balance between real gain and noise mitigation without attenuation which makes NP6 more than a before and/or after NetPoint but a specialized product for high impact backhaul not only for WISP, FISP and ISP but to improve communications and close the digital divide.

The 5.9 - 7.2 GHz spectrum

Working stability in the bands is undoubtedly something important that will be present in the NP6 antenna models thanks to their isolation between chains that will prevent additional noise from being generated in the 6 GHz wireless links.

Force 4600C dashboard readings

On the Access Point capture (Cambium Force 4600C, «Netpoint en 6 GHz» link) the Wireless Link Test with Large packets (1500 bytes) and 20 s duration reported Downlink 625.135 Mbps and Uplink 1015.615 Mbps.

The registered SM «netpoint en 6GHz01» shows 43.17 km with RSSI Downlink/Uplink of -65 / -68 dBm.

In a later test from the Subscriber Module (firmware 5.5.0.15) with Small packets (128 bytes), the same link measured Downlink 1053.68 Mbps and Uplink 956.359 Mbps; the throughput graph shows peaks near ~1100 Mbps on downlink.
